Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama

National Weather Service Huntsville AL

249 PM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Another hot/humid afternoon is in progress across northern AL,

although coverage of showers and thunderstorms has thus far been

limited in the wake of extensive nocturnal precipitation last

night. However, as an outflow boundary enters eastern portions of

the forecast are late this afternoon, additional convection will

develop and spread westward with time, likely dissipating across

northwest AL early Friday morning. This activity will be capable

of producing locally damaging downburst winds, large hail and

vivid CG lightning strikes. Very little change in the general

weather pattern is anticipated from Friday-Monday, with scattered-

numerous but unorganized showers and thunderstorms expected each

day (generally from the late morning-early evening hours). A risk

for more widespread and strong-severe thunderstorms may

materialize at some point Tuesday/Wednesday, followed by an influx

of slightly drier air toward the end of next week. For the next

couple of days, smoke dispersion will be fair, with mixing heights

of 4000-5000 ft and transport winds around 5 MPH.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy, locally dense fog

will be possible each morning through early next week but

generally confined to locations that receive wetting rainfall.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
