BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST

BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AND THE NEXT

SIX (6) DAYS, ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT

12:00 P.M. EDT, THURSDAY, JUNE 26, 2025. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST

WILL BE ISSUED AT 6:00 P.M. EDT.

WARNING IN EFFECT: The Northern, Northwest and portions of the

Central Bahamas remain under a Severe Weather Warning today and

residents in these areas are urged to continue to monitor any and all

severe weather statements issued by the Bahamas Department of

Meteorology.

GENERAL SITUATION: The combination of a surface trough across the

Northern Bahamas and a moist and unstable airmass in place aided by a

mid to upper level low across southern Florida will continue to

create unsettled weather across the Northern, Northwest and Central

Bahamas today.

Outlook: The mid to upper level low will progressively shift

northwestward resulting in a reduction in shower and thunderstorm

activity as weak high pressure ridging and a layer of Saharan Dust

moves over the area for the weekend. A few pulses of moisture in the

easterly wind regime will allow for some passing showers and a

possible afternoon thunderstorm. Another mid to upper level low will

move westward across the Bahamas reinstating active weather across

the country for the beginning of the week.

SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Heavy rainfall events and thunderstorms are

possible across all areas, therefore residents in low-lying and flood

prone areas should exercise caution. There is a high risk of

dangerous rip currents, especially for eastern and southern

shorelines of the Central and Southeast Bahamas. Beachgoers and

swimmers are urged not to enter the waters in these areas today, and

should exercise extreme caution elsewhere as winds gradually

increase.
