.SHORT TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...

Issued at 436 AM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

The main concern in the short term will be the potential

for patchy fog. As rainfall continues to push eastward early this

morning, the combination of the recent rainfall and light winds,

generally less than 5 mph could potentially create a favorable

environment for fog. At this time believe it will generally be

patchy in nature, generally around the river valley and low-lying

areas, but will continue to monitor if fog potential becomes more

widespread this morning. The remainder of the day will be dry with

no showers and thunderstorms expected. Temperatures will generally

be near normal today with highs in the 80s.

For Friday there will be a chance for strong to severe

thunderstorms in the afternoon. The greatest threat for severe

thunderstorms will generally be across the Dakotas where the

trough will translate across the western and central Dakotas.

Temperatures on Friday will be in the low 90s across western and

southwest Nebraska. The strong sfc heating in the vicinity of

the trof should have isolated to scattered thunderstorm

development, mainly across western Nebraska into the northern

Sandhills. There is a marginal to slight chance for severe

thunderstorms with large hail and strong winds, however

confidence is low thus have kept PoPs at 25% or less for

thunderstorm development.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

Issued at 436 AM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

Saturday will be another warm day with highs reaching the

low to mid 90s. The above normal temperatures will be short lived

however as a cold front will move into the area Saturday cooling

temperatures back to near normal through early next week. As the

cold front approaches a better chance for widespread thunderstorms

exist Saturday late afternoon and evening. There is a slight risk

for severe thunderstorms as the trof deepens as it transverses

eastward. The greatest threat for severe weather will generally east

of HWY 61. There will be a chance for isolated thunderstorms daily

Sunday through early next week.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z FRIDAY/...

Issued at 1226 PM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period.

Lingering cloudiness should gradually wane as modest low

pressure continues to progress east. Expecting a return to clear

or mostly clear skies by this evening. Overnight tonight,

believe some fog is possible particularly in the river valleys

and portions of north central Nebraska. Have included this at

both LBF and VTN with HREF guidance hints at potential for

seeing degraded flight rules. Went fairly aggressive and

introduce IFR and LIFR conditions for LBF and VTN respectively.

Believe this may be cleaned up with later forecasts but even if

this occurs, the window for these conditions appears brief and

on the order of a few hours. Skies should quickly clear after

daybreak Friday with a return to VFR expected.
