.SHORT TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...

Issued at 1259 AM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

Today:

The upper high that has been influencing the area has shifted

slightly south. This will allow some shortwave energy to

interact with the region, resulting in a 20-40% chance for

isolated to scattered showers and storms mainly northwest of

I-44 this afternoon and evening. Look for highs in the around 90

today with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s.

Tonight and Friday:

The forecast for this period grows increasingly uncertain. HRRR

shows potential for an MCS to move through the area tonight into

Friday morning while the 3km NAM takes that west of the CWA,

but confidence in any of these solutions is low at this time.

Friday forecast is more in question due to unknowns with morning

convective potential. This could cause cloudier skies, cooler

temperatures (highs in the 80s) and reduced chances for

convection in the afternoon/evening. Current forecast features

30-50% chances for showers and storms Friday afternoon and

evening, but stay tuned for updates.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

Issued at 1259 AM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

Shortwave energy will continue to bring daily rain chances into

the middle of next week, with the greatest chances in the

afternoons/evenings. Look for 40-50% chances on Saturday, 50-60%

Sunday and Monday, and 20-40% Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures through this period will be susceptible to changes

due to convective trends, but generally looking at highs in the

mid 80s to low 90s and lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Look

for daily heat index values in the mid to upper 90s through at

least Monday.
