.SHORT TERM...

(This evening through Friday)

Issued at 144 PM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

Currently, we have upper level anticyclonic flow over most of our

forecast area, bordered immediately to our west by weak

southwesterly flow. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible

this evening associated with the southwesterly flow, mainly north

and west of a Sweetwater to Throckmorton line, and have kept a low

(20% or less) chance for isolated to scattered precipitation

there for a few hours this evening. Farther south and east,

scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are again pushing

northwest toward the area. However, much like the last few days,

low confidence in significant coverage argues for keeping a

mention of these out of the forecast for now. Expect similar

overnight lows in the mid 60s to lower 70s, with highs again in

the low to mid 90s tomorrow.

.LONG TERM...

(Friday night through next Thursday)

Issued at 200 PM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

Hot and dry conditions are expected this weekend with upper level

high pressure expanding westward into the region. Highs will be in

the mid to upper 90s on Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows

remaining in the 70s. The western periphery of the ridge begins

to break down by Tuesday and Wednesday with a weakness aloft

developing over the region. We continue to show PoPs in the 20-40%

range on Monday afternoon and again on Tuesday and Wednesday for

the possibility of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Currently, the highest rainfall totals in the mid week time frame are

favored to the north and west of our area but we will continue to

monitor this part of the forecast for higher (or lower) rain

chances. Forecast high temperatures for Tuesday through Thursday

are currently in the mid 90s although highs could be closer to the

upper 90s if we see less cloud cover and showers in the area.
