.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Today scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will

will return again. Some storms may be strong to severe.

- This weekend and into early next week, a ridge of high pressure

will slowly move into our region from the south, bringing warmer

  and drier conditions.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Weather conditions today continue to be characterized by an axis

of instability interacting with a weak embedded short wave moving

across the region. Marginally severe thunderstorms are expected

again today, while interacting with a weak front moving across

eastern Montana.

Later this weekend and especially by Monday, an upper level ridge

of high pressure builds into the Great Basin with temperatures

warming again. The position of the surface high will generally

keep our region dry.

By the middle of next week, the pattern turns more active with

another trough of low pressure moving into the Pacific Northwest.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Due to the weak forcing in place, confidence is less than average in

the exact details of storm timing and placement and movement.

Deviated from the strict NBM to include more HiRes model data to

better represent these details in the immediate short term (Day 1

through Day 2).
