.DISCUSSION...

(This afternoon through next Thursday)

Issued at 1242 PM PDT Thu Jun 26 2025

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Conditions will continue to remain

rather dry over the next several days with gradually warming

afternoon highs. The upper flow will remain out of the west and

southwest as an upper level ridge consolidates over the desert

southwest through the end of the weekend. Breezy afternoon winds

will be prevalent Friday with gusts of 20 to 25 mph. Another round

of breezy winds will also develop on Saturday with highs in the

upper 80s to mid 90s. In addition, weak impulses in the flow from

passing northern stream systems will help to bring some moisture

and instability into the area. This means isolated thunderstorms

are expected to develop over the far north and eastern part of

Nevada during the afternoon starting Saturday, and again next

Monday.

The upper ridge will continue to expand its influence

over the southwestern United State for early next week though

models are hinting at a weak upper trough trying to work east,

displacing the ridge. This will help to cool things down just a

little bit, with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s by mid-week.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Confidence remains high as models are in very good agreement on

the course of upper level ridging building across the region

leading to very warm temperatures over the period.

.AVIATION...

(00Z TAFS)

.VFR conditions expected at all terminals over the next 24 hour

period. Breezy westerly winds at 10-15 kts, with a few gusts

at20-25 kts in the afternoon, dissipating this evening to light

and variable at all northern terminals, 5-8 kts at KTPH and KELY.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Elevated fire weather concerns over the region as upper ridging

remains over Nevada with rising temperatures. Min RH values drop

to below 15% in the afternoons with breezy winds up to 5-15 mph,

gusts up to 25mph will keep all zones out of critical fire

conditions.
