Subject:  Soliciting Comments on the Proposed Termination of

Various Environmental Modeling Center Web Sites and Data

Products through July 26, 2025.



The Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) is seeking comments

through July 26, 2025, on the proposed termination of various

EMC products and services. The following websites and data

products are targeted for termination due to their legacy

status:



- Global Ensemble Forecast System Plumes:

 https://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/users/meg/gefs_plumes



Users of this information can find the computer code that

creates this webpage at the following GitHub site:

https://github.com/AliciaBentley-NOAA/gefs_plumes_grib2io



The GEFS Plumes code is free to use, but unsupported.



- Complete removal of the “polar” website:

 https://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/



- Complete termination of the North American Rapid Refresh-Time

 Lagged (NARRE-TL) system, and removal of data from the

following locations:

https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/narre/prod



The NARRE-TL uses the North American Model (NAM) and the Rapid

Refresh Model (RAP), both of which are frozen due to legacy

status. Users are encouraged to use the High Resolution Ensemble

Forecast (HREF) system or the Global Ensemble Forecast System

(GEFS) in lieu of the NARRE-TL.



- Complete termination of the North American Rapid Refresh-Time
