...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT FRIDAY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.



* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and south central 

  Nebraska, including the following counties, in central Nebraska, 

  Merrick and Nance. In east central Nebraska, Polk and York. In 

  south central Nebraska, Hamilton.



* WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT Friday.



* IMPACTS...Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from 

  earlier rainfall. Many county roads are experiencing flooding and 

  flooding is likely to continue along some of the creeks into 

  Friday and possibly longer especially along Silver Creek, Prairie 

  Creek, and Clear Creek.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 938 AM CDT, Trained weather spotters reported heavy

    rainfall Wednesday night across the warned area.  Flooding is

    already occurring. Between 3 and 8 inches of rain have fallen

    with the heaviest 6 to 8 inch amounts generally running from

    Chapman, to Archer, to Central City, to Clarks and Silver

    Creek.

  - This includes the following streams and drainages...

    Warm Slough, Looking Glass Creek, Prairie Slough, Silver

    Creek, Big Blue River, Clear Creek, Council Creek, Skeedee

    Creek, Lincoln Creek, Wood River, Big Blue River, Beaver

    Creek, Horse Creek, Davis Creek, Elk Creek, Moores Creek,

    Prairie Creek, and Plum Creek.

    Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is

    expected.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Central City, Stromsburg, Osceola, Shelby, Palmer, Clarks,

    Silver Creek, Polk, Chapman, Phillips, Marquette, Hordville

    and Archer.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.
