...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN RUTHERFORD...

SOUTHERN POLK...NORTHEASTERN GREENVILLE AND NORTHWESTERN SPARTANBURG

COUNTIES THROUGH 430 PM EDT...



At 332 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong

thunderstorms along a line extending from near Columbus to 15 miles

southeast of Hendersonville. Movement was east at 5 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 to 45 mph and pea size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Forest City, Columbus, Landrum, Inman, Tryon, Campobello, Tigerville,

Lake Bowen, Mill Spring, and Glassy Mountain.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.



These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
