...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN CATAWBA AND LINCOLN

COUNTIES THROUGH 530 PM EDT...



At 501 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along

a line extending from 7 miles west of Lincolnton to 12 miles

southeast of Newton. These storms were nearly stationary.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Lincolnton, Maiden, Westport, Boger City, Iron Station, Denver, Lake

Norman, Lowesville, Sherrills Ford, and Crouse.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead

to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.



These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
