...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 PM EDT THIS 

EVENING FOR WEST CENTRAL ROCKINGHAM AND SOUTHEASTERN STOKES 

COUNTIES...



At 635 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the thunderstorms that 

prompted the Flash Flood Warning have dissipated. However, runoff 

from these earlier heavy rain will gather in streams and other 

low-lying areas and is expected to prompt flash flooding. Between 

1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or 

expected to begin shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.

This includes the following streams and drainages...

  Big Beaver Island Creek, Belews Creek and Dan River.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
