The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...

  Southwestern Buchanan County in northeastern Iowa...

  Benton County in east central Iowa...

  Northwestern Iowa County in east central Iowa...



* Until 700 PM CDT.



* At 553 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line

  extending from near Lincoln to near Clutier to near Malcom, moving

  east at 45 mph.



  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.



* Locations impacted include...

  Vinton, Belle Plaine, Jesup, Atkins, Urbana, Dysart, Shellsburg,

  Newhall, Blairstown, Van Horne, Keystone, Garrison, Brandon,

  Rowley, Mount Auburn, Luzerne, Vinton Memorial Airport, Minne

  Estema Park, Benton County Fairgrounds, and Wildcat Bluff Park.



This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 40 and 55.

sturdy building.



Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.

Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading

killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to

be struck by lightning.



Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to

flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
